The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, unfortunately, suffered an injury during the training camp on Thursday and had to be carted off the field. Immediately after the injury, head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that the 26-year-old quarterback suffered a calf strain and avoided any disaster. And now, Taylor has another update on Burrow’s injury.

Taylor revealed that Burrow will miss several weeks as he will be recovering from the right calf strain. However, Taylor brushed off any major concerns, saying that the quarterback had already plenty of training in July prior to the injury.

“Joe got more days this July than he’s ever had in the NFL,” Taylor told reporters, according to ESPN. “So, I feel really good about that and the progress we’ve made during those July practices with Joe, and when he’s able to get back we’ll be able to get the work that we need.”

This is the third time that Burrow’s summer training has been interrupted due to medical issues. Back in 2021, the Pro Bowl QB was recovering from a Torn ACL and couldn’t practice with full intensity. Last off-season, the Bengals quarterback went through an appendix surgery days ahead of the training camp. And now, a calf strain has affected his off-season.

Nonetheless, as expected, Burrow will be out for multiple weeks of training camp, but it’s highly likely he will be the starting QB for the Bengals in week 1 of the 2023 regular season. In Burrow’s absence, the Bengals’ backup quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning will alternate first-team reps in training camp.

Just a couple of days ago, the Bengals QB Joe Burrow was carted off the field with an injury that left the fans worried for him and Cincinnati’s upcoming season. Burrow avoided a disaster as he suffered a calf strain injury. He is not expected to miss any game time and is only expected to miss several weeks of training camp. Still, the fans are worried Burrow missing training camp could affect the Cincinnati-based football team.

But on Friday, the Bengals still had a good outing on the field despite Joe Burrow’s absence. Backup QBs Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning took 1st team reps and had a good connection with wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

Burrow will be not taking part in training for the next few weeks. But he could be back in time for the Bengals’ opener against their AFC North division rivals Cleveland Browns on September 10.
