The Cincinnati Bengals fans aren’t the only ones who are expecting something from their star quarterback Joe Burrow. The Tiger King fame Joe Exotic has also reached out to the young signal-caller, but he is expecting something else. Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado, is expecting financial assistance from Burrow in a bid for prison release.
In the letter posted on social media by Joe Exotic, he asked the former LSU quarterback to help raise $20,000 so that he could pay his advocate fees. He also accused Burrow of gaining fame and attention using his trademark Tiger King.
“I see the news, magazines, as well as yourself calling you the Tiger King,” the letter reads at the start. “I have been the Tiger King before you got out of high school. Tiger King is my trademark and my intellectual property. My life has been destroyed … while you all ride fame and attention off my life’s work.”
Joe Exotic is currently serving a 21-year prison sentence in federal prison since he convicted on multiple charges, including plotting to kill wildlife park rival Carole Baskin and violations of the Endangered Species Act.
“Since everyone is enjoying the fame of being the Tiger King I’m suffering wrongfully in prison in a cage,” Exotic wrote. “How about doing a good deed and helping me raise $20,000 for a down payment to hire attorneys,” wrote Joe, further noting good karma will come Burrow’s way if the quarterback helped him. “Maybe paying it forward, God might help you get to the Super Bowl this year.”
The 58-year-old former zookeeper became famous worldwide following the Netflix documentary series Tiger King. As things stand now, Joe Burrow might retire before Joseph Maldonado gets released from prison. As for Joe Burrow, he will be rather focused on bouncing back following a shaky start in week 1.
Joe Burrow looking to bounce back after a rough start

The Bengals signed their star Joe Burrow to a massive 5-year $275 million contract just ahead of the 2023 NFL season. That contract made Burrow the highest-paid NFL player of all-time in average annual salary.
However, Burrow’s 2023 season hasn’t been to a great start. During the Bengals’ week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns, Burrow registered just 82 passing yards and was benched during the fourth quarter.
Now, the Cincinnati-based football team will face another tough opponent as they are scheduled to go against the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. Burrow will be looking bounce back by having a great game against the tough Baltimore defense.
