Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco emerged as the savior for the quarterback-ridden Cleveland Browns in his late thirties. The 38-year-old QB produced a stellar performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football (MNF). With three touchdowns for 311 yards, he secured a much-needed victory for his team. 

After winning the game, the QB looked a bit nostalgic. In his interaction with the media, the QB did not shy away from expressing that he still has a lot of hunger left in his belly. 

It was a lot of fun today. I did not enjoy the last ten minutes of standing on the sidelines, but so many... I mean so many times where I was just feeling like a 10-year-old kid again. And to be able to do that you can't let it be lost on you. How special it is to be to play the game again. This is how I feel.

The old horse became a free agent in 2023 when his contract with the New York Jets expired. The former Super Bowl winner lost all hopes of coming back to the league again. The primary factor was his age. He was 38 and did not expect that anyone would call him for the next season.

But man proposes, and God disposes. He received a surprising call from the Cleveland Browns, who were suffering from their ‘seems-to-be-never-ending’ quarterback problem.

Their first-choice quarterback, DeShaun Watson, was ruled out earlier, and the backup and third-choice quarterback also got ruled out due to several injury concerns. The veteran was the only option for them, as things stood out at that time. 

The Browns need to focus on a stable quarterback in the coming season

Amid winning, the Browns need to think of a stable quarterback in the coming season. They were deprived of the services of their highly-paid quarterback, DeShaun Watson, in both seasons. 

He was accused of s*xual misconduct and missed a lot of games last year. When the fans expected a comeback from him this year, he suffered a major shoulder injury that compelled him to stay out of the field for a long time.

In the absence of Watson, the team headed towards Dorian Thompson and Philip Walker. However, both of them were also subjected to injuries that led the team to call the veteran quarterback.

It will be interesting to see what strategy the team will follow in the coming time. Will they seek a replacement for Watson, who has largely been a trouble seeker for them? Only time will tell.
