The Cleveland Browns surprised everyone and qualified for the postseason with still a game to go. They won their week 17 game against the New York Jets and clinched a Wild Card spot. The Browns did all that with quarterback uncertainty since the start of the season. They started the season with Deshaun Watson at center, and got into the postseason with former Super Bowl champion, Joe Flacco.
Flacco signed with the Browns’ practice squad in late November after Watson was ruled out for the season due to an injury. He became the team’s starting quarterback in week 13 after Dorian Thompson-Robinson was ruled out due to concussion. Since becoming the team’s starter, Flacco has been brilliant as he led the Browns to a 4-1 record.
After leading the Browns to their 11th win against the Jets on Sunday, Flacco received a lot of love from his former teammates and other Jets players. He had a very interesting conversation with the Jets’ CB Justin Hardee. The defenseman grew up in Cleveland and told Flacco. He said:
You know this is my city, man? It’s my city. Bring my city a ‘ship.'Justin Hardee to Joe Flacco
Flacco replied:
I will.Joe Flacco’s reply
Flacco finished the game against the Jets with 309 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception. The Browns will end their regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday. They will hope to win that game and get into the playoff mode on a positive note.
Joe Flacco remains humble even after great run with the Browns
Joe Flacco has had a renaissance with the Cleveland Browns this season. He has led his team into the postseason as the Browns have gone 4-1 with Flacco under center. Flacco talked about the Browns’ latest win over the New York Jets.
Flacco told NBC Sports’ Peter King after the team’s 37-20 win:
I mean, this position is reliant on everybody," I think the fact that this is, like, the ultimate team sport has kind of gotten away from us to a certain extent. Everybody wants everything to come down to one guy or two guys. That’s why winning a game at this level is so special.Joe Flacco to NBC Sports
Flacco has already won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2012. So far this season with the Browns, he has thrown for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He has a rating of 90.2 while completing 60.3 percent of his passes.
