The Cleveland Browns got into the postseason, thanks to their veteran mid-season signing Joe Flacco. However, the Browns were eliminated from the playoffs, largely because of the same person. The former Baltimore Ravens’ QB threw two devastating, back-to-back pick-6s to essentially ice the game for the Houston Texans.
Both the Browns and the Texans were expected to put on a show. After a competitive first half, which was powered by some high-octane offense, the Texans’ defense took over in the third quarter and blew the game wide open. Flacco was at the center of all the wrong things in this little two-minute period as Houston intercepted him twice and took it to the house.

The game started with both Flacco and the Texans’ QB CJ Stroud playing at a very high level. Texans’ held a 14-24 lead going into halftime. 10-point comebacks have happened in the playoffs. It was still manageable for the Browns.
However, the first major blow came with 6 minutes remaining in the quarter as Flacco’s pass was picked off Steven Nelson, who took it back into the endzone for an 82-yard touchdown. On the very next drive, the Super Bowl champion was picked off yet again, this time by Christian Harris, who calmly returned it for a 36-yard touchdown.
That sealed the game in favor of the Texans, who piled on a few feel-good points in the final quarter. The Texans eventually won the game, 45-14, and have booked their place into the Divisional Round of this year’s playoffs.
Fans react to Joe Flacco throwing two pick-6s on consecutive possessions during the Browns-Texans game
The Cleveland Browns were dismantled by the Houston Texans 45-14 in the first game of the 2024 playoffs. It was supposed to be a close game between two evenly matched-sides.

However, that did not happen as the Browns were humbled by the Texans in Houston. Browns’ QB Joe Flacco’s two back-braking pick-6s were instrumental in Cleveland tasting a heavy defeat in the Wild Card game.
Flacco and the Browns had a lot of intrigue surrounding them as they finished the season 11-7 and got into the postseason. The veteran QB was a huge reason for the Browns’ success this season. However, his poor play against the Texans meant that Cleveland’s dream of lifting a Lombardi Trophy will have to wait for another year.
Fans on social media reacted to the game-changing Flacco interceptions during the game. Here are some of the reactions to those two plays.
Flacco eventually finished the game with 307 yards, one touchdown, and 2 interceptions. For the Texans, it was their defense and a solid CJ Stroud performance that saw them win the game and advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
