The Cincinnati Bengals star running back Joe Mixon was having a hard time throughout the entire 2023 off-season. He was facing multiple legal issues. But now it seems like one of his legal issues is over as he was recently found not guilty on an aggravated menacing charge. Amidst this, the Bengals RB has made a bizarre decision to not speak with certain reporters from different outlets.

Over the weekend, ESPN reporter Ben Baby reported that Joe Mixon refused to answer questions from certain reporters because of what he deemed to be disrespectful behavior. It was initially reported that Mixon has planned to boycott certain outlets such as ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, Pro Football Talk, and the Cincinnati Enquirer.

However, later Mixon clarified to Pro Football Talk that he will not boycott any outlets and instead is planning to boycott four specific reporters irrespective of their affiliations with any outlet. The four reporters Mixon named were Ben Baby (ESPN), Kelsey Conway (The Cincinnati Enquirer), James Rapien (SI), and Jay Morrison (PFT).

Mixon’s decision to not speak with certain reporters comes just a day after he was found not guilty on the aggravated menacing charge that stems from a January 21 incident in Hamilton County.

The former Pro Bowl RB was accused of pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to shoot her in the face. Now, he has been found not guilty of the incident on Thursday. According to reports, a judge in the case ruled in favor of Mixon after the prosecutors failed to prove the accusations beyond a reasonable doubt.

As previously mentioned, Mixon has had an eventful off-season from the aggravated menacing charge to a shooting incident near his house. He also had to take a pay cut to stay on the Bengals roster ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

After Joe Mixon’s questionable decision to avoid speaking with certain reporters, the Bengals running back’s agent Peter Schaffer took to social media to clarify Mixon’s stance. Schaffer replied to a tweet from ESPN reporter Ben Baby about Mixon’s boycott decision. Baby tweeted that Mixon declined to comment on why he made that decision to not speak with certain reporters.

“You know exactly why we don’t talk to you. You consistently look for the negative and always are putting the players down. We have given you ample chances to correct the situation and you refuse. You made your bed now sleep in it. Don’t tweet to people that you don’t know why,” Schaffer replied to Baby.

According to league rules, players are required to be available for interviews once every week during the regular season. It would be interesting to see how long Mixon can avoid interviews with the mentioned reporters.
