The San Francisco 49ers beat the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship and punched their ticket to the Super Bowl once again after 4-years. It was an emotional celebration after the victory for the team which managed to achieve the feat with Brock Purdy as their QB. In attendance for the game was another Bay Area legend.
It was Joe Montana, the four-time Super Bowl winner, who was an instrumental part in turning the San Francisco 49ers into a dynasty. Montana was present at the trophy presentation ceremony alongside Michael Strahan, who was hosting the presentation ceremony. However, it was one of the more awkward moments for the former quarterback, who seemed lost on the stage.
Joe Montana was standing beside Michael Strahan, who was doing his job as a broadcaster and constantly talking. Montana looked around initially to see if he was standing in the right place. Strahan then proceeded to hand him the NFC Championship trophy. At this point, he took it and held it up.
Joe Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to four NFC Championship victories back in the day
Here’s when things became awkward. After this. Joe Montana continued to hold on to the award, whereas Strahan began to move on and called Jed York, the Chief Executive Officer of the San Francisco 49ers organization, and began to interview him.
Montana was perplexed. He did not know if he was supposed to hand over the trophy to York or if he should continue to hold on to it. He just stood there with the award in his hand and York leaned in to hold the award, which resulted in an awkward moment that was cringeworthy.

Montana’s presence, however, did electrify the spirits of 49ers fans in the building as the quarterback took the team to a total of seven NFC Conference finals. He led the team to win four out of those seven appearances. Montana is inevitably one of the greatest QBs to have ever played football as his record in the Super Bowl is 4-0.
