Standing atop the AFC seed, the Baltimore Ravens seem all charged up. They are coming off a victory against the San Francisco 49ers in week 16. The matchup against the 49ers was deemed the Super Bowl preview match, as both teams held the unbeatable record with 11-3 standings. Interestingly, that wasn’t a major milestone for the Ravens to achieve, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
Now, the Baltimore Ravens are set to face off against the Miami Dolphins, who are coming off a crucial victory against the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach John Harbaugh appreciated them for executing their gameplay at the highest level.
But that’s not all he said! The head coach seemed to have a dig at his rivals, the 49ers, who dropped to an 11-4 standing after the week 16 loss, by calling the upcoming SNF game against Miami as their “biggest challenge” of the season.
This is what John Harbaugh said:
We are dug and deep in preparation for a very good Miami Dolphins team. A great football team. A challenge in so many ways..in all three phases. Very talented team, a very tough team, a very physical team, a very fast team and a very well-coached team. They execute at the highest level. We’ve got the biggest challenge we’ve had so far this year. And we are excited about it and looking forward to it.John Harbaugh on the Miami Dolphins
Though Harbaugh was pretty loud with his praises for their next opponent, what remained silent in the whole statement was considering the Dolphins a better team than the 49ers. And facing Miami would be their biggest challenge, not the so-called Super Bowl preview match.
How the Baltimore Ravens’ weakness could cost them against the Dolphins in week 17
Now that Ravens’ star quarterback Lamar Jackson‘s MVP odds have surpassed that of Brock Purdy, he will likely win his second NFL MVP award this season. The team’s defense ruled over the opponent’s offense by logging five interceptions.
With a standing of 12-3, the Ravens look like the most complete team this season so far. The only thing that can cost the Ravens everything they worked for is their run defense. It is currently ranked 22nd across the league with 4.4 yards per carry.
On the other hand, Miami has an above-average defense with a great running game. And that’s the one thing that gives the Dolphins an upper hand against the Ravens in the upcoming New Year’s Eve game. Only time will tell which team emerges with a win.
