On Sunday, the Washington Commanders — led by their second-year quarterback Sam Howell — squared off against their NFC East division rivals New York Giants in their week 7 game. The Commanders failed to outscore the Giants and suffered their 4th loss in the ongoing season. After the game, Washington’s star defensive end Jonathan Allen expressed his frustrations in the post-game interview.
During the post-game interview, NBC Sports’ JP Finlay asked the defensive lineman about his thoughts on the Commanders’ 14-7 loss. Allen didn’t mince any words in his response to that question.
They whooped our a**. Plain and simple. Gotta be better.Allen said in the post-game interview.
The NBC reporter further pressed the question by asking if Allen was frustrated with the loss. The Commanders’ pass rusher had to say this about the loss:
F--k yes it does. I'm f-----g tired of this sh*t. F-----g tired of this bullsh*t. It's been seven f-----g years of the same sh*t. I'm tired of this sh*t.
And then, when the interviewer asked Allen what the Commanders could do to turn their season around in the upcoming weeks.
Get our minds right and get ready to play f*cking Philadelphia.
The Commanders’ defense did enough in the game to contain the Giants to just 14 points in the game. But Washington’s offense led by Sam Howell could not put enough points on the board to outscore the New York-based football team.
As a result, the Commanders suffered a 14-7 loss and fell to a 3-4 record. Next, they are scheduled to face another one of the division rivals, Philadelphia Eagles, in their week 8 game. The Commanders would look to bounce back with a victory in that game to have a better shot at the playoffs.
Jonathan Allen and the Commanders have a tough game ahead
The Commanders remain an average team under the leadership of head coach Ron Rivera. They have won 3 games and suffered 4 losses in the ongoing season so far.
Now, they are looking to bounce back with a victory next week, when they are scheduled to face the Eagles in their week 8 game. They would hope to cause a major upset by defeating the 6-1 Eagles. The Commanders’ defense, led by Jonathan Allen, would look to contain one of the best offensive units in the league to fewer points.
Both NFC East teams have already faced each other once in this season back in week 4. In that game, the Eagles managed to outscore the Commanders and secure a victory. The Commanders would be seeking revenge for that loss.
