The Indianapolis Colts player Jonathan Taylor has skillfully maneuvered his way around the ongoing contract disputes. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, the All-Pro running back was cleared to join practice yesterday.
Taylor returned to have a slight stretch on Thursday. But the biggest question surrounding him was the contract. When asked about how far the talks have progressed, he quickly answered, “I don’t think it matters,” and “I’m here right now.”
“If somebody wasn’t committed, they wouldn’t be here,” Taylor told the press. Because of his ongoing hold on to earn what he believes he deserves, Taylor hasn’t kicked a ball wearing the Colts jersey in a while, and the surgery to the right ankle prolonged his absence. This is why the Colts’ front office decided to put him on the PUP list, which meant he missed the first four games of 2023. Now that he is back on the field and cleared to practice, the franchise has 21 days to enlist him on the 53-man roster.
What’s interesting is that he refused to let any details slip regarding an extension. After being denied one in May, he remained a no-show throughout training camp and pre-season. But he spoke in a different tone when pushed about it.
“I’m not here to get into any contract things,” Taylor said. “Those were over the course of the offseason, but the season is here.” The 24-year-old claimed that he and his Colts teammates are focused on the next game against division rivals, the Tennessee Titans.

Anthony Richardson is looking forward to playing with Jonathan Taylor
The Indianapolis Colts have been irrelevant for quite some time. They last reached a playoff game in 2018 but lost heavily against the Kansas City Chiefs. Once a great franchise, always challenging for silverware, with Peyton Manning calling the shots, now the best they could muster was a wild card in 2020. But the draft of promising rookie Anthony Richardson brought some joy to the faces of Colts supporters in the offseason.

Despite missing one game because of the concussion protocol, Richardson looks like the right man for the job. Almost 500 yards in 3 games and 3 touchdowns doesn’t appear to be a lot, but it got them one win. But the losses were closely fought.
Before, the whole Jonathan Taylor Fiasco fans were excited for Richardson to link up with the Pro Bowler. Backup Zack Moss has filled in with 280 rushing yards and one touchdown from 66 carries. Now that Taylor is close to making his return, Richardson is eager to play alongside him.
“He’s a great player, and I know I can do some things pretty well,” he said. “I can only imagine what it’s like, but we won’t see until it actually happens.”
Currently, the Colts sit with 2-2 after 4 games. Gardner Minshew had filled in for Richardson against the Ravens. They seem to be building something good in Indianapolis.
