Jordan Love has a long way to go before being compared to his Green Bay Packers predecessor, Aaron Rodgers. But he made significant strides by beating the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card on Sunday night.

Love created NFL history yesterday with a near-perfect passer rating of 157.2 on his postseason debut at Arlington. He completed 16 of 21 passes, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns.

Even though the 25-year-old has been in the league for four years, 2023 is his first year as the Packers’ undisputed #1 quarterback. Compare that to Rodgers, who made his post-season debut in 2009, losing to the Arizona Cardinals. He already had two seasons as a starter in Green Bay.

Love finished the regular season with 32 passing touchdowns, only behind Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott with 36. Prescott capitulated during yesterday’s game by throwing two pick-6s in the first half to ease things for the Packers.

Still, a strong and reasonably spotless performance from Love contributed to the Green Bay Packers securing their 10th win in 11 games against Dallas. Rodgers, during his tenure with the Packers, played in 22 postseason games, winning 12 and losing 10 times.

What did Matt LaFleur have to say about his quarterback

After the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said love is the real deal.

Man, Jordan Love. Wow. That’s about all I can say. The poise he shows and the command he shows. I’m just so proud and happy for him. He’s a real dude.

Love was inside the Packers locker room, where he had a chat with the press. He revealed that it was a team effort. They came to Arlington for a win, though they had been counted off before the game even began.

It’s been a long season. We’ve been counted out a lot of the season. Just the way everybody keeps battling, keeps competing, getting better, and obviously putting on great performances, just like tonight, it’s a great feeling.

The win over Dallas set a tie against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoff. This will be the two teams’ 10th meeting in the postseason (an NFL record), and the 49ers have won 5.
