Back in January, during a regular-season game between the Josh Allen-led Buffalo Bills and the Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals, an unprecedented event happened. The Bills’ defensive back, Damar Hamlin, collapsed on the field and had to be transported to the hospital. After a brief consideration, both teams decided to call off the game. And now, more than seven months after the incident, Allen has applauded Burrow and the Bengals for being so considerate during the incident. Josh Allen’s parents are Joel Allen and Lavonne Allen

“It was a new spot to be in, so I don’t fault anybody,” said Josh Allen during his recent appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast. “I talked to my coach and I was like okay we’re not playing. I am gonna go talk to the Bengals and just tell them that we can’t do it.”

“As I started walking over there, they were walking to us saying the same thing. There was couple of guys, Joe Mixon, Joe Burrow obviously, and Tyler Boyd. So to be able to just sit there and talk with them like ‘Guys we’re not playing either’. I thought that was pretty, pretty respectful thing for them to do which made it lot easier for us too.”

Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after a collision with Bengals WR Tee Higgins. He was administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) before he could be transferred to a local Cincinnati hospital. After the incident, the NFL considered resuming the game, but both the Bills and the Bengals stood firm on not taking the field again that day. The game was eventually called off, which cost the Bengals a shot at the No. 1 seed.

Despite the near-death experience Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin went through back in January, the 25-year-old has been surprisingly cleared to play professional football again.

Hamlin spent a lot of days in two hospitals after he collapsed on the football field in January. He was cleared to play football by medical professionals in April after months and months of rehab.

According to reports, the six-foot DB Hamlin suffered from Commotio Cordis, and those who experience it have a fewer chance of suffering other heart-related issues. That means Hamlin’s heart is fully healthy now, despite the near-death experience. Hamlin announced his return to the NFL in a press conference on April 18.

The QB lives in a very lavish property. Josh Allen’s house is a $851,500 property located in Orchard Park, New York. Meanwhile, Hamlin is expected to play for the Bills in the upcoming season. He has begun training with the team and is the current betting favorite to win the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year honor.
