On Sunday Night Football, the Buffalo Bills led by their star quarterback Josh Allen went against the Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals in an exciting week 9 matchup. The much-anticipated game between the two top 5 quarterbacks in the league went down to the wire, but Burrow and the Bengals managed to emerge victorious in the game.

There were many questionable penalties called in the game. However, one particular penalty called on the Bills gained a lot of attention and sparked a debate on social media. During the final seconds of the first half, Allen and the Bills were trailing by 14 points and were facing a crucial 3rd and 6 from the Bengals’ 38-yard line.

Allen, who received the snap from the shotgun position, tried to connect with Gabe Davis for a big gain, but the Bills receiver stopped on his route, which led to an incomplete pass. After the play, as the Bills were lining up to attempt a 56-yard field goal, referees threw a late flag and called an intentional grounding penalty on Josh Allen, as he was still inside the tackle box when he threw the 3rd down incompletion.

A furious Allen could not believe the late call and yelled:

Are you f**king kidding me?

Nonetheless, the late flag — which resulted in a 10-yard penalty and a loss of down — pushed back the Bills from the field goal range. The Bills punted away the ball and couldn’t add any more points to their total before halftime.

In the end, the Bills ended up losing to the Bengals 24-18 in a close game. With that loss, they fell to a 5-4 record, but still have a solid shot at winning the AFC East division title.

I’ve never seen that call in my life. it’s an option route to Gabe. I’m expecting him to go but he made the read to stop and I threw the ball….I wouldn’t do anything any different.
Allen said via 7 News WKBW.

Allen and the Bills would look to bounce back from this rough loss by securing a victory against the Denver Broncos, who they are scheduled to face in their next game next Monday. The Bills have a tough stretch of games lined up and there’s a tiny possibility that they could end up missing the postseason if they fail to clean up their mistakes.
