The Buffalo Bills entered the 2022 season, being the favorite to win the Super Bowl, but came up short. Quarterback Josh Allen has decided to change his playing style in light of the mistakes that happened last year.

Allen met with reporters at the start of Buffalo‘s offseason program on Tuesday. “I know it sounds crazy, but I’m getting older,” Allen said as he wishes to prioritize his health moving forward. “I can’t continue to do this. I know when I’m using my youth, I feel like I can, but over the course of my career, I’m going to have to learn to adapt and change.

“Availability is the best ability. I do want to be the smartest quarterback with the football in my hands. I don’t want to put the football in harm’s way because I know how detrimental that is for our team with the interceptions and the fumbles.”

Even head coach Sean McDermott said during the league’s annual meeting that Josh Allen needs to be more careful of how he plays on the football field. He also pointed out that there is no “healthy way” to play football. Allen said that it was his personal choice to want to change his playing style so that he can last long in the league.

Josh Allen led the Bills to a great regular season with a 13-3 record. However, history repeated itself as Buffalo couldn’t cross the threshold of the playoffs and make it to the Super Bowl in the last three seasons.

The 26-year-old made up for the lack of the running game by himself. He had 124 rushing attempts for 762 yards and 7 touchdowns which was second to former running back Devin Singletary, who ran for 819 yards and 5 touchdowns. Josh Allen was sacked 33 times in the regular season and seeing how Tua Tagovailoa is just one concussion away from saying goodbye to football, the Bills quarterback is taking all the necessary precautions to not be a cautionary tale in the NFL.

It’ll be interesting to see how the new and improved Josh Allen performs in the 2023 season. The Bills Mafia is eagerly waiting for the franchise to reach the Super Bowl and win its first franchise Lombardi Trophy!
