Josh Allen has held the crown for AFC East for a long time now. The Buffalo Bills have been the undisputed leaders of the division and have played great football each year.
However, now there are new competitors in town as legendary QB Aaron Rodgers has just joined the New York Jets. The Jets are now competing for the division title and maybe Allen’s crown could slip right under his heel.
Rodgers has been one of the best QBs in the NFL for a long time now and he has the stats to prove it all. The back-to-back MVP will pose a serious threat to the Bills and their star QB.
Allen was asked about the same on a recent podcast with Kyle Brandt. Kyle asked him about his reactions when Rodgers joined the Jets and does he feel threatened by his position. Surprisingly, Josh Allen was content throughout the conversation and looked unfazed. His stoic demeanor throughout the interaction made Kyle question his genuineness.
“He’s definitely a bad man. But at the end of the day, it’s still football,” Allen said on Wednesday during an appearance on the “Kyle Brandt’s Basement” podcast. “The goal doesn’t change – it doesn’t matter who’s back there throwing passes for the opposing team. We’re trying to go out there and score more points than them.”
Josh Allen has shifted his focus toward winning the Super Bowl
The Bills are usually met with severe competition from the AFC conference with teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs challenging each year. Therefore, Josh Allen has shifted his focus towards winning the Super Bowl instead of indulging in a battle with Rodgers.
Allen also believes that both the teams will try to beat each other and the best among them will always triumph. The 26-year-old QB doesn’t want to perform well in front of the Jets alone. Instead, he wants to perform exceptionally well throughout the entire season and eventually win the Super Bowl.
“At the end of the day, you want to win your last game. That’s all that matters. And It doesn’t matter if you win the division. There’s been Wild Card teams to win the Super Bowl. It’s who’s playing the best at the end of the season,” Josh Allen stated.
In hindsight, the rivalry between Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers will be the one to look out for. The AFC East has suddenly come to life after Rodgers’ signing and will offer great fireworks.
