Josh Jacobs got what he wanted, finally. The running back was having a tug-of-war with the Las Vegas Raiders, which ended with Jacobs securing a one-year deal worth $12 million. Jacobs had a stellar 2022 season in which he led the league in rushing yards and was selected to Pro Bowl as well as the All-Pro team. In this year’s offseason, Jacobs and the Raiders were seemingly at an impasse regarding the rusher’s contract. That situation has been sorted and Jacobs is back in Vegas, for at least this season.
Raiders’ head coach Josh McDaniels is excited to have Jacobs back and is looking forward to getting him up to speed with the team. Jacobs held out of the training camp and will now return with week 1 right around the corner.
“I love the player, and I love the person and I’m excited that he’ll be back here soon,” McDaniels told the media after their game against the Dallas Cowboys. “Super excited. I love the kid. Obviously, he’s a great football player. Meant a lot to our team last year. Going to mean a lot to our team this year.”
With Jacobs returning, the Raiders have one of the best running backs in the league. They will hope Jacobs is in good shape and ready to go. The Raiders played their final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys last night. They begin their season on September 10 when they visit the Empower Field at Mile High to play the Denver Broncos.
The Raiders will hope to make a push for the playoffs with Josh Jacobs back
The Las Vegas Raiders needed Josh Jacobs back as soon as possible. After spending almost the entire offseason holding out and not participating in practices, Jacobs is back with a newly signed 1-year $12 million deal. The Raiders will get a much-needed boost by bringing their All Pro rusher back.
The team signed former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this off-season after Derek Carr signed with the New Orleans Saints. The team also lost their Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller to the New York Giants. So getting back Jacobs was very important for the Raiders.
Jacobs will be the team’s RB1 and will hope to continue from where he left off last season. The rusher had an incredible 2022 season rushing for 1,653 yards and 12 TDs. He also contributed to the passing game and had 400 receiving yards. The Raiders will hope to make a push towards the playoffs this season after getting their RB1 back.
