Taylor believes that the Packers despite having Aaron Rodgers in their team were struggling last season so it will be even harder for the Jets.

There have been some noteworthy purchases and departures in the 2023 NFL offseason, but none bigger than Aaron Rodgersmove to the New York Jets. The 39-year-old Rodgers ended his 18-year stay at the Packers in April. Naturally, expectations are through the roof in the Big Apple. It’s not every day a franchise picks up a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. However, FOX Sports 1 Speak’s host, Joy Taylor, believes that they are being over-hyped as there is no guarantee that Aaron Rodgers will deliver.

In the latest Podcast of ‘Speak’, Joy Taylor said,” We are projecting a lot of things on paper, and we haven’t seen any of it playing out.” She is of the opinion that while Aaron Rodgers may be a talismanic signing, whether he will influence the Jets play in a positive manner is still a doubt.

Taylor then lists a few similar scenarios from the recent past, starting with Tom Brady‘s move to the Buccaneers, where he won his seventh Super Bowl. She also mentioned Matthew Stafford, who won the LVI Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams after moving from the Detroit Lions.

However, not all big-name signings can deliver immediate success. Joy Taylor pointed that out. She singled out Broncos quarterback Russell Wilsons failure to replicate his 2014 Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl win over Denver.

Joy Taylor may be on to something, as she pointed out that the AFC is the hardest division this year. With several teams strengthening during free agency and the 2023 draft. She believes that, despite the trades, the Jets are an unknown prospect.

The Bills, with Josh Allen, will pose a massive challenge. He will be looking to replicate the 13-3 record of last season and reach the Super Bowl. Taylor also mentioned that the Dolphins, with Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa, are formidable. Moreover, if they sign free agent Dalvin Cook, they will stand a good chance of reaching the playoffs.

Other than these two, the AFC has the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens and Chargers will also pose a great challenge. She even emphasized the New England Patriots’ chances this year and believes Bill Belichick can create some magic again.

Undoubtedly, the AFC will have some interesting matchups, and the Jets will be in the thick of it. Aaron Rodgers is doing his bit and spreading his influence on the team. He has help from former teammates, Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard. To gel with the team better, they are spending quality time together by attending various events. Rodgers even went to a few dinners with several of his teammates.

Whether Rodgers’ moving out of his comfort zone helps the Jets, in the long run, is still a big question. If they fail to reach even the playoffs, as Joy Taylor predicts, then it will count as an underwhelming campaign.
