Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster praised Kadarius Toney for his mind-blowing performance and scores that led the team to its victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. Following the Super Bowl LVII celebration, Juju took the moment to tease the Giants pointing to Toney’s huge impact in the recent event.
JuJu stated, “That boy got here, and I don’t know what the Giants was doing with KT, but bro, he’s a dog. Brett Veach and Andy Reid, they know how to pick and choose who to go get for this team.”
After acquiring Toney from the New York Giants, ‘Yung Joka’ remained mostly quiet as he battled injuries. In the past 7 games he only made a pair of touchdowns with 14 catches for 171 yards. He even missed practice a week earlier before the giant tournament, as he picked up numerous injuries in the AFC championship.
Kadarius Toney lifts the Chiefs into the game against the Eagles
However, all his injury rumors burned out after Kadarius Toney’s marvelous performance on the Super Bowl stage. He made a huge impact in the team’s 38-35 win over the Eagles in LVII on Sunday night as his two big plays received the spotlight of the day.
Toney stated after his big moment, “It is the biggest game of my life. It was for real.” Though at first, he didn’t play a big role in the game, later he turned the game around. He put in a long 65-yarder to put the Chiefs ahead of their rivals, preventing the Eagles from another Super Bowl win.
Patrick Mahomes aided in the perfect moment to give it back to Toney, who was left open by the Eagles early in the fourth quarter. Toney’s 5-yard touchdown gave his team a 28-27 much-needed lift. Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said, “We saw something a little bit different on tape and we knew that we could take advantage of what they weren’t doing”.
“And Kadarius just did a hell of a job of finding a way to get himself open.” Toney’s 65-yard punt return was the longest in Super Bowl history, as the receiver commented, “I saw a lot of white jerseys in front of me. “At that moment, I was really excited to get the ball.”
From dealing with being traded to injury-prone days, Toney overcame a lot in a short amount of time, but delivered the most historic records to his team, putting them in the lead. He recovered and played one of his life’s biggest games in one of the biggest events in the National Football League.
