The Philadelphia Eagles have a great roster. They are the defending NFC Champions and are looking to go back to the Super Bowl this season. One of the main reasons for the team’s success last year was the production from their WR crop. They acquired A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans last year and he instantly had an elite season for the Eagles. They also have a Heisman Trophy winner in DeVonta Smith. To that elite group, they have now added Julio Jones.

Jones was one of the best wide receivers in the league in the 2010s. The Eagles are adding an elite WR to their already brilliant group. However, Jones’ best days might be behind him as he hasn’t had a great season in recent years. After spending 9 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, he signed with the Tennessee Titans and then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before landing himself a spot in this vaunted Eagles side. He spoke about his mindset coming into Philadelphia.

“I ain’t going to make no expectations. Just keep watching, and we’ll revisit this,” Jones said when asked about how much he had left in the tank. “My mindset is definitely to dominate, don’t get it twisted. I’m here to dominate. But I’m saying … wherever they need me to go and be, I’m going to do that to the best of my ability.” The future Hall of Famer will be expected to suit up on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

The Eagles lost their first game of the season against the New York Jets on Sunday. They are still in a great position to make a deep playoff run this season and they will hope to win the Super Bowl this time around. Jones might have a say in that.

Nick Sirianni talks about Julio Jones’ role with the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles signed former Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones to a 1-year contract earlier this week. Jones was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season and will look to resurrect his career in Philadelphia this season. Eagles’ head coach Nick Sirianni talked about Jones’ role in the team.

“You’re still coming out here and going to see more and more each time you see him out on the field,” Sirianni said. “Obviously, he’s older from that time, but still has the ability to make plays. Make no mistake about it, though. This pass game still is going to go through DeVonta (Smith), A.J. (Brown), and Dallas (Goedert).” He further continued by saying, “So, I think that’s a little bit of a difference, right, the role he’s playing, right? More of a supporting role than a highlighted role and we’ll see how it continues to shape up. But we still know he has the ability to make plays and we’re going to need him to make plays.”

The Eagles will host the high-flying Miami Dolphins this weekend on Sunday. It will be a huge matchup for both the teams, but especially for the Eagles as they lost their last match to the New York Jets. Jones will be expected to play on Sunday. Can’t wait for that one!
