After the disappointing 2023-24 season, possibilities are looming that the Chicago Bears can trade their quarterback Justin Fields and go for college football star Caleb Williams. The possible trade rumors gathered steam after Fields unfollowed the Bears on social media. Many thought that the trade was going to take place and Fields’ attitude ensured it.

Nevertheless, Fields had a different take. As per the 33rd Team Podcast cited by an article in Sports Illustrated, Fields said that it was not a very serious act from his end. He jokingly unfollowed the team on social media. He also said that he did not understand why people give so much importance to social media.

The quarterback added:

Man, bro, I’m glad we’re talking about it. Because people … why do people take social media so serious? Like I still mess with the Bears, this and that, I’m just trying to take a little break. I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I’m just not trying to have football on my timeline.

He denied the rumors of him getting traded. Instead, the quarterback revealed a quirky relationship with his team, like he would like to have with his partner. He further noted that unfollowing the team does not mean that the QB does not love the team.

Justin Fields added:

I know y’all mess with a girl … EQ, especially you. Just because you don’t follow the girl on IG don’t mean you not messing with her.

The Bears president supported Justin Fields

Despite not performing well in the last season, Justin Fields is enjoying the support from the Bears team. His teammates stood by his side when the possible trade rumors arrived. Even the team president Kevin Warren also claimed that he wanted Fields for one more season in the team. He further praised Fields’ way of making plays.

The president said to WGN News:

I’m a supporter of Justin because I got a chance to work with him when I was Commissioner of the Big Ten conference. He is incredibly talented. He is smart. He works hard. And he wants to be a great NFL football player. And now he just needs to make sure he has the support around him. He’s working hard. I would love to see him this offseason and make sure he’s totally healthy going into the season next year.
