Soldier Field in Chicago has been long overdue for something to cheer about. The Chicago Bears fans were in for a treat, realizing that they have a quarterback they can rely upon. And the player is none other than Justin Fields.

Yes, that same Fields has had to eat up vicious criticism since his time in Illinois. At one point in the season, it seemed he had lost the quarterback job after a series of bad results forced head coach Matt Eberflus‘ hands to bench him. But he came back and won four of his last six games.

His latest victims were the Atlanta Falcons, against whom he put up a combined total of more than 300 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears won the game by a 20-point margin (37-17), only for the second time in the 2023 season.

Amidst all the speculations of drafting a new quarterback next year, Fields’ hot form has ignited a fire in the cold, snowy weather of Chicago. No wonder the stadium was buzzing with the ‘We want Fields’ chants whenever he made any kind of swanky play.

Fields helped DJ Moore record his second-best outing. Moore caught nine passes for 159 yards and one TD. Runningback Khalil Herbert rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown.

I was excited that we played really good complementary football. We obviously have adversities during a football game. I thought the guys did a nice job of that for the most part.
Eberflus said after the Bears recorded their 7th win of the season

That’s their best tally since 2020, in which they reached the wild card round.

Teammates claim Justin Fields is special

Injured wide receiver Darnell Mooney was one of the first to stick up for Fields in times of need. Mooney told ESPN,

Justin is the quarterback of the future. He's this franchise's quarterback. He's been balling. I don't understand why it's any more questions of that.

After the Falcons, a few more players have opened up about how they feel about the 24-year-old. Khalil Herbert, who has 120 carries this season, claimed that his quarterback is special.

You never know what he's going to do in that pocket, being able to make plays and get out of sacks. He's special. I shake my head on the sidelines, watching because I don't know how he does it.

Fields, on the other hand, credited the win as a team effort. He was just relieved to not turn the ball over on Sunday (9 interceptions in 2023).

It's always going to help the team [when] you don't turn the ball over. The defense did a good job. It was a team win.

Whether the Bears choose to stick with Justin Fields for future seasons is still a big question. But judging by how the fans have taken a liking to him, it should carry a bit of weight despite locking in the first overall pick for the 2024 Draft.
