The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is currently in the off-season mode trying to negotiate his contract with his franchise. Amidst this situation, the young wide receiver is facing legal issues involving his ex-girlfriend.
According to the court documents obtained by The Daily Mail, Andrea Galea, a 25-year-old licensed attorney has filed a paternity suit against Justin Jefferson alleging that the Vikings wide receiver has failed to support their daughter Stella Anastasia. Galea alleges Jefferson refuses to acknowledge the child and financially support them.
Galea claims she used to be close with Jefferson during their college days at LSU. Furthermore, she also alleges that the wide receiver pressured her to get an abortion. When she refused to get an abortion, Jefferson allegedly, “began acting towards her with great insensitivity and extreme cruelty” according to the filing.
Regrettably, thereafter Defendant sought to pressure the Plaintiff into having an abortion. The Defendant actively encouraged the Plaintiff to terminate the pregnancy, offering to do [w]hatever [the Plaintiff] need[ed] [him] to do.The filing stated
The lawsuit was filed in a family court in Essex County, New Jersey on Jan. 19. In the suit, Andrea Galea claims she became romantically involved with Jefferson back in 2019 and later reconnected in April 2023 when they conceived Stella.
Upon his realization that he could not persuade the Plaintiff to abort the pregnancy, Defendant began acting towards her with great insensitivity and extreme cruelty. The filing stated
And now, according to the suit, Galea is seeking a paternity test and financial support from Justin Jefferson. She also claims Jefferson hasn’t provided a penny of financial support for their child so far despite earning millions in the NFL.
Justin Jefferson has filed a counter lawsuit against Andrea Galea
Following Andrea Galea’s lawsuit, the Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson filed a counter-lawsuit in Essex County on Jan. 26. In the suit, he demanded an injunction against Galea to prevent her from sharing information about the child. Jefferson also asked for a paternity test.
Furthermore, Jefferson also accused Galea of using the child’s birth to boost her online presence. His lawsuit also had screenshots of conversations between him and Galea. Jefferson further claimed that he was forced to change his number due to Galea annoying him about the kid.
Jefferson’s attorney hasn’t commented on the paternity suit claiming he won’t comment on an ongoing case. Galea’s attorney said he would comment on the matter at an appropriate time.
Jefferson is currently entering the final year of his rookie deal with the Minnesota-based football team. He is set to make $19.7 million in 2024. Besides, he is expected to become the highest-paid non-QB in the league when he signs his second contract.
