The NFL season is back with plenty of surprises. In some unexpected turn of events, favorite teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals lost in their opening encounters. On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stunned everyone by registering a 20-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Ahead of the season, analysts did not forecast a positive season for the Bucs as their star quarterback Tom Brady left. The Bucs included Baker Mayfield as their regular quarterback for the season, which made the fans unhappy as they did not have any faith in the former No. 1 pick.
However, Mayfield silenced some of his critics in the first game. He was pivotal in registering the team’s win over the Vikings. He recovered to throw two touchdown passes without a turnover, which led the team to grab a victory.
However, the center of attraction in this whole game remained Justin Jefferson, who despite making multiple tries, failed to make it for the side. He picked up 42 yards in the closing minute of the first half. Nonetheless, his attitude on the field surpassed his efforts to make it for the Vikings.
During the first half, the wide receiver launched a monstrous hit on a Bucs’ defender out of his frustration. Despite his strong performance on the field, the game was tied and Jefferson was angry with an interception that Kirk Cousins, the quarterback of the Vikings, made. Fans were stunned by the aggression he showed on the field. Not only his onfield aggression but also an extremely sad gesture that he had in the end attracted a lot of reactions from the netizens. Fans praised him and also mocked Cousins for his efforts on the field.
Kirk Cousins and Vikings trolled on Justin Jefferson’s behalf
Cousins had an average game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cousins had 33-of-44 passing for 344 yards on the match day. He also finished the game with just one interception and turned the ball three times. Cousins also had two touchdowns and passer rating of 102.8, which was not as impactful as the number might suggest. And fans made sure to speak this on social media.
The Vikings’ fans trolled Cousins and their home team after the game. Some of them even tried to imply that Cousins was the reason why Jefferson’s efforts went in vain. Jefferson had a much better game. At least, statistics tell that. He had nine catches for 150 yards. However, his efforts were not enough.
