Justin Jefferson, the Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver, is all set to become the highest-paid WR in the NFL. According to multiple sources, the 24-year-old player may receive a lump sum amount in his extended contract by the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings’ rookie has two years left in his contract and the team management is going to offer an extended contract before the first week of the NFL season. In a report by Marca, it is said that the top WR in the league and the team are expecting to come to an agreement before the new season starts on 10 September 2023.
However, the wide receiver made it clear a few days ago that his primary concern is not extending the contract. Instead, he is focusing on winning the Super Bowl this season. Instead of missing games in the practice session, he was seen hitting the training grounds hard. The player wants to contribute significantly to the team’s success on the path to the Super Bowl glory.
“It’s really about winning a Super Bowl, just getting the wins and being with my team,” he said last month. “The contract is going to play itself. I’m just out here to play football,” he further added. (H/T: ProFootballNetwork)
Last season was phenomenal for the wide receiver. He was pivotal in terms of contributing to the team’s success. He finished his season with a strength of 128 receptions and 1,809 yards which led the team to clinch the NFC North title and finish the season with a 13-4 record.
It is expected that the WR will receive a high amount in his extended contract based on his brilliant performance.

Justin Jefferson’s contract extension
As per media reports, Jefferson can become one of the highest-paid WRs in the NFL ahead of this season. The amount is unknown yet, however; it seems the player will receive a $30 million contract ahead of this season. Presently, he is earning $2.4 million in a year. If the speculations become true, then he will be having a huge jump in his contract.
Marca cited in a report that Jefferson is likely to join Tyreek Hill as the second $30 million receiver in the NFL season. Presently, Hill is the only player in the NFL who receives $30 million in a year.
The Vikings will begin their 2023 campaign on September 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
