Justin Simmons is currently one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. Since his debut back in 2016, Simmons has solidified himself as a top free safety with the Denver Broncos, which led to him receiving a huge four-year contract back in 2021. Simmons, who is currently enjoying his off-season, recently thanked Russell Wilson for inspiring him to worship Jesus.
During his recent appearance on the Sports Spectrum podcast with Jade McCarthy, the Broncos‘ Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons talked about his growth as a follower of Christ. He credited his teammate Russell Wilson for instilling religious faith in him.
“I’m just so thankful, for Russ, for my mentors that I talk to, my counselor… The wisdom that God is showing me through my quiet time…It’s been difficult, but I’m learning to enjoy it, just as Russ did. I’m learning to enjoy and truly worship Jesus through the valleys,” Simmons said on the podcast.
Simmons is a Pro Bowl safety for the Denver-based football team who is in the league since 2016. He was drafted by the Broncos in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL Draft and has been a solid force in the Broncos’ secondary unit. In the 2022 season, Simmons registered a tied-league high 6 interceptions despite playing in just 12 games. This led to him receiving his third second-team All-Pro recognition in his career so far.

Russell Wilson and Sean Payton look to turn the tide in Denver

After a disastrous 2022 season for the Broncos under their franchise QB Russell Wilson, the Broncos management acquired the Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean Payton in the 2023 off-season to steady the ship. The Broncos traded with the New Orleans Saints to acquire the accomplished head coach, who is reportedly excited to work with Russell Wilson to get the Broncos back to the winning ways.
“He’s super competitive,” Payton recently said about the 9-time Pro Bowl QB. “He’s won at a high level. He’s someone that I think moves well. He’s someone that I think works extremely hard. It’s hard to find guys with all those traits.”
However, some reports suggest that Sean Payton would quickly move on from Wilson if things don’t go well in the 2023 season. Wilson is currently under an expensive contract worth more than $242 million with the Broncos till 2029. But if things go the right way, the Broncos would be a very tough team to beat under the leadership of Payton.
