During the 2022 off-season, the Kansas City Chiefs signed the undrafted wide receiver Justyn Ross to their roster. Ross was expected to become the next big in the league and was expected to be a reliable target for Patrick Mahomes. However, even before his career took off in the NFL, Ross found himself in big trouble after getting arrested on Monday.

The Chiefs receiver has been placed on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list following a disturbing alleged domestic violence incident that happened a few days ago. Since he was placed on the list, Ross cannot play in the league or even participate in the practice sessions. The 23-year-old practiced with the Kansas City-based football team on Wednesday and Thursday before he was placed on the restricted list.

Ross was arrested on Monday and was booked into the Johnson County Detention Center before getting released after placing a $2,500 bond. The Chiefs receiver is accused of dragging a woman through the house and destroying some of her property. According to court documents, Ross is facing a criminal charge and a domestic battery with no priors.

The unnamed victim was identified as someone the Chiefs pass catcher “is or has been in a dating relationship” with. Ross reportedly damaged the victim’s laptop, phone, computer monitor, jewelry, and car key.

He reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before a judge via a Zoom call. The investigation is still going on and Ross is scheduled to appear in court again on 4th December. Ross was released on a bond and is not allowed to contact the alleged victim or any witnesses in the case. And now, he has also been placed on the NFL’s exempt list.

Andy Reid comments on Justyn Ross being placed on the Exempt list

Following a disturbing domestic violence allegation, the Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was placed on the NFL’s restricted list. And now, the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says he doesn’t know whether or not Ross will see the field again this year according to ESPN.

We'll just let it play out the way it goes. That's what that list is for. I'm not here to judge on that. You go through the process in these situations ... they're all different and so you let it play out. That's how we're set up here in this country and in the NFL that way.
Reid told ESPN.

Ross joined the Chiefs with many expectations back in 2022. But he couldn’t play a single game in that season due to an injury. And now, after just catching 3 passes for 34 yards in 2023, Justyn Ross faces huge trouble that could end his career before it even began.
