Mere hours before the AFC Championship game, Kansas City Chiefs’ Kadarius Toney shocked the internet as he went on an Instagram rant accusing his team of lying about his injuries. But that’s not the whole story!
The Chiefs’ wide receiver remained inactive for that game as he had been recovering from a hip injury and a personal reason that was presumed to be the birth of his daughter. However, now that he’s back, he first clarified the major misunderstanding.
On the opening night of the Super Bowl LVIII, Toney told NFL Network that the clip that went viral on the internet was widely interpreted as falsy and was also “chopped off,” and he never said anything about the Chiefs.
In the process, I got interrupted, so it got a mixed message behind it, I guess you can say. Then a lot of footage got chopped up in the release. So it made it look like I was attacking the one I love the most,”Kadarius Toney said
Toney clarified that he wasn’t referring to the Chiefs in his Instagram Live; he was actually referring to the New York Giants fans in his comment section.
But I was referring to them which I shouldn't have. I just wanted to go out there, get my message across as far as my injuries. He added.
The receiver acknowledged his mistakes and said that even though it was not for his team, he shouldn’t have vented like that.
I'm a man. I can accept my mistakes just like I accept my wins.Toney asserted
Furthermore, he even claimed right now he’s focusing on winning the big game.
Andy Reid addressed Kadarius Toney’s injury controversy
Until the Chiefs’ WR cleared up the misunderstanding, the gravity of his words ranting about his team was intense.
As he reached the ears of head coach Andy Reid, he was asked to comment in regards to the whole controversy, a day after the AFC championship win.
He's been on the injury report, so that's not made up by any means. He's been working through some things. He'll be back out there.Said the Chiefs head coach, though he refused to say anything else.
He was a big part of the Chiefs’ last season’s Super Bowl victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. The good news for now is that Toney will be active for the big game scheduled for February 11 in Las Vegas.
