The Kansas City Chiefs are currently preparing for their Super Bowl game against the San Francisco 49ers, which is scheduled to take place next Sunday in Las Vegas. Ahead of the game, the Chiefs got a boost to their offense as their wide receiver Kadarius Toney returned to practice after missing the entire playoffs.

Kadarius Toney didn’t play a single snap in the postseason so far. He has missed games due to hip injuries and even has been a healthy scratch. Before the Chiefs’ AFC game against the Baltimore Ravens, Toney was placed on the injury report due to a hip injury and personal reasons. The Chiefs eventually ruled him out a day before the game.

Later, Toney posted an NSFW audio recording on his social media claiming he wasn’t hurt at all and accusing the Chiefs of lying about his injury. However, a day after the AFC game, the Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid told the media that they were not lying about Toney’s hip injury. Reid also said that he didn’t hear Toney’s audio himself but he had been told about it.

Nonetheless, after those controversies, the athletic wide receiver finally returned to the practice sessions on Thursday. Toney has missed the last 6 Chiefs games following a poor campaign to start the regular season. The former first-round pick has had multiple dropped catches this season.

Furthermore, Toney — who was expected to be Patrick Mahomes‘ No.1 receiver in 2023 only caught 27 passes for 169 yards and 1 touchdown in 13 games. However, he could still be a great asset for the Chiefs with his speed and athleticism.

Last year, he made a huge play in the Super Bowl that changed the game in favor of the Chiefs. This year they would expect a similar effort from Toney if he suits up for the bag game.

Social media reacts to Kadarius Toney returning to the Chiefs practice

Kadarius Toney has returned to the Chiefs practice session just in time for their Super Bowl game against the 49ers. However, not all Chiefs fans are looking forward to Toney potentially playing in the big game.

Toney hasn’t been at his best this season and has dropped several passes. Besides, two of the drops also turned into interceptions. So, fans believe the Chiefs would be better if Toney doesn’t suit up for them next Sunday. Check out some of the reactions attached below.

Nonetheless, the Chiefs don’t have depth in their wide receiver room to be picky about their pass catchers. If Toney’s fully healthy, the Chiefs would look to use him in the returning game and will certainly make him run some routes in the decisive game.
