On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs led by their All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes went against the Buffalo Bills in their week 14 matchup. In the game, the Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, made an insane play to secure a game-winning touchdown, but it was negated by an offside penalty on wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

During the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Chiefs were trailing by 3 points and were facing a crucial 2nd and 10 from around the midfield. Mahomes, who took the snap from shotgun position completed a pass to a wide-open Travis Kelce. The Chiefs’ tight end ran with the ball for a few yards, before he was swarmed by Bills defenders.

Instead of going down, Kelce threw a lateral pass to teammate Kadarius Toney, who took the rock all the way past the endzone for a game-winning touchdown. Check out the footage of the insane play attached below.

However, the Chiefs fans’ happiness didn’t last long as the refs threw a penalty flag on Toney for lining up offsides. As a result, the touchdown was negated and the Chiefs had to play the second down again. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was furious about the penalty and started screaming at the refs. He had to be held back by his teammates as he slammed his helmet on the ground.

Mahomes and the Kansas City-based football team never managed to score another point and the Bills went on to secure a 20-17 victory against the defending Super Bowl champions.

With that loss, the Chiefs fell to an 8-5 record. However, they are still holding the No.3 seed in the AFC playoff picture as division leaders. They would look to win out their division and possibly regain the No.1 seed in the upcoming weeks.

It’s tough to swallow. Not only from me, and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game.

Nonetheless, the Chiefs are having a tough stretch of two weeks after dropping back-to-back games. Next, they are scheduled to face the struggling New England Patriots in their week 15 matchup.
