Native Americans view woke efforts by the Kansas City Chiefs & Taylor Swift as threats to their centuries-old heritage
The Chiefs were named after their former Native American mayor, who helped bring the team to Kansas City.

Until today, it was only NFL teams that perceived the Kansas City Chiefs as formidable threats. Now, the team is being viewed as a threat by Native Americans who believe woke efforts from the football team and Boy Scouts of America have had a detrimental impact on their centuries-old heritage as per activists. The activists are looking for an unexpected celebrity to step up and be the hero who fights for their cause.
Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Travis Kelce, is being viewed by many as the person who would compel the team to put an end to the racist Tomahawk chop chants.
A Kansas City-based group, Not in Our Honor, told Fox News that it remains “hopeful” that Swift will be an “ally” in its efforts to force the team to put an end to the Tomahawk tradition.
Kansas City’s iconic mayor, Harold Roe ‘Chief’ Bartle’s legacy is at risk. For the uninitiated, he is basically a historic figure who has had a significant impact on the establishment of the Chiefs and the Boy Scouts. There is a rising concern amongst Native Americans about the cancel culture wiping their history clean.
The Kansas City Chiefs are just one of many organizations straying away from their Native American roots
For Maurice the Native Patriot, a prominent social media influencer of Native American origin, there is an obvious division being created between Americans and the natives.
It’s a woke firing squad looking to tear everything down by telling us that Native Americans and Americans need to be divided. It’s become popular to think that even seeing a Native American image is racist.
He said

The Kansas City Chiefs got their name from Harold Roe Bartle; it was a way to honor his efforts to convince the Dallas Texans to shift their franchise to Kansas City. It comes as no surprise that Bartle championed civil rights movements and devoted most of his life to promoting Native American heritage.
But the recent trend of the two organizations dearest to his heart straying away from the core Native American values of their founder puts his legacy at risk.
Native American is American history. This effort to divide us comes from the 'hate-America' Marxist crowd that wants to tear down tradition and rebuilt the United States in their own image.Tony Henson, the executive director of the Native American Guardians Association or NAGA, said
Fearing backlash from the woke movement, the Boy Scouts are now attempting to “remove all Native American aspects of the program.” In addition to this, there is a sense of urgency to replace the logo, which resembles a Native American chief at present. The organization refutes these claims and responds with a statement.
There is no national mandate from the BSA to remove all Native American imagery from the Scouting program...The goal is proper respect, not removal. The statement reads
The Kansas City Chiefs have banned headdresses and face paint at Arrowhead Stadium on game days. Their earlier mascot, Warpaint, who was a pinto horse mascot, was also retired.
The team has been attempting to make amendments that keep the woke personalities off their backs, but in this process, they have ended up disappointing the Native Americans. It is ironic considering, that without the Natives, there would be no football team in Kansas City.
Lamar Hunt’s decision to move the Dallas Texans to Kansas City in 1963 was influenced by Mayor Bartle. While the team stands by its claims that there is no inherent affiliation with American Indian culture, it contradicts the biographies that exist of Mayor Bartle.
He was inducted into the Northern Arapaho Tribe as a blood brother by a Chief named Lone Bear, as per scouting historians David L. Eby and Paul Myers Jr. The emergence of cancel culture has resulted in Native Americans being mandated to produce proof of their heritage, something other Americans are not required to do.
Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, “claimed to be Native American and went away with it purely to advance her career,” Maurice the Native Patriot said, pointing out the double standard in identity politics.
Eventually, the truth came out, at which point she apologized to a group of Natives, stating that she “listened, learned,” and was “sorry” for the harm she had caused.
The Kansas City Chiefs are attempting to play it safe by neither affiliating themselves with the Natives nor by ensuring the woke individuals have no footing to attack them on. While it comes as no surprise that an NFL team is straying away from controversy, it is sad to see that the team is straying away from its roots.
