The Denver Broncos defensive Kareem Jackson was ejected from their week 7 game against the Green Bay Packers after delivering an illegal hit. Jackson lowered his shoulder to deliver a brutal hit on the Packers tight end Luke Musgrave in the fourth quarter of the game. After the ejection, Kareem exposed some hate messages he got from football fans on social media.
In one of two messages Kareem posted, a man, apparently named Phillip, wrote, “Stop behaving like a f***ing n** ?.” The Broncos defensive back posted the screenshot of the message and exposed him to the world.
I wanna make sure you get the attention you're looking for. I want your friends and family to know what type of racist person you really are over a game. I'll repost all this week so it doesn't go unnoticed. Don't worry, IG tough guy.Kareem wrote on his IG story
Furthermore, he also exposed an unnamed guy, who sent a homophobic hate message to Kareem, to which the Broncos’ defensive back responded by saying this:
Here is your attention you wanted lol. Another IG tough guy. This what we deal with because we are athletes on a regular. Disgruntled fans that hide behind social knowing it wouldn't end well in person. Enjoy this fame Daniel.
Kareem Jackson is the second NFL player to call out people who sent hate messages this year. Earlier, the Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattinson revealed he got over 60 hate messages on Instagram, some including the N-word.
Kareem Jackson suspended for 4 games by the NFL
NFL has given out their punishment for defensive back Kareem Jackson over his illegal hit on Luke Musgrave in the Broncos’ week 7 game against the Packers. He has been suspended for 4 games.
In a letter sent to Jackson by the league, the NFL‘s VP of football operations Jon Runyan explained the Broncos’ defensive had enough time and space to operate within the rules of the league, yet he chose not to.
Furthermore, Runyan also noted that this wasn’t Jackson’s first offense as he has been fined several times for illegal hits. In fact, this was the second game Jackson has been ejected for an illegal hit in this season alone.
Kareem Jackson has appealed the suspension, but as it stands now, the Broncos DB is set to miss Denver’s next 4 games against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Buffalo Bills, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Cleveland Browns. Besides, he will forfeit $558,889 in his salary if the suspension stands.
