Lately, the 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett has been quite in the news, for several reasons if one must say. It wasn’t until recently the quarterback came forward to make the facts straight and clear, amidst the whole fiasco as the starter at the Steelers.
From highlighting the failure of all six quarterbacks drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft’s first round to being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles as a backup, the highlights have been endless. But most of all, it is for how he handled Russell Wilson’s arrival at Pittsburgh.

In the introductory press conferences with the Eagles, Pickett opened up about his trade to the Eagles and why he requested a trade after the nine-time Pro Bowler’s arrival. The 25-year-old insisted that he has no hard feelings towards his former franchise or Wilson, saying he handled everything in the right manner.
Pickett said on Monday:
I think the communication is what it is. It was behind closed doors. I'm confident in the way I handled it. I handled it the way I should've handled it. I'm excited to be here. It worked out so well that Philly was the place I ended up landing in. Everything happens for a reason and I'm right where I'm supposed to be.Kenny Pickett said
Pickett claimed that he realized that it was time for him to part ways with the Steelers, as he needed a fresh start. As a New Jersey native, joining the Eagles is just the right fit for the young quarterback as he aspires to grow his football career.
Kenny Pickett’s parting words reveal tensions with the Steelers
Although Pickett says there is no hard feeling, his farewell note on social media says otherwise. First and foremost, the quarterback bid his last goodbye to the city of Pittsburgh and not the Steelers franchise. It appears the quarterback wasn’t in sync with his former franchise’s decision to sign Wilson, despite having him as a starter.
Pickett wrote on his Instagram account:
Thank you, Pittsburgh! I came to this city 7 years ago and my life changed forever. Grateful for all of the amazing people I was fortunate enough to cross paths with, and for all of those who supported me along the way.Kenny Pickett on Instagram

Contrary to what the former Steelers QB said about handling the situation, he reportedly didn’t handle the former Broncos quarterback’s addition to the Steelers’ roster well. That’s why he requested the trade shortly after that, which has eventually landed him at Philadelphia.
