“Don’t want no racial tension,” Kevin Hart once shocked Baker Mayfield with an extravagant comment on podcast

Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield‘s career has started to fizzle out in recent years. After a stunning introduction into the NFL, where he led the Browns to a playoff appearance after being drafted in 2018, it has been a mixed bag for the QB.

The 27-year-old is all set to enter the offseason as a free agent, after ending up with the Los Angeles Rams last season. He started the season with the Carolina Panthers after being released by the Browns following the controversial trade of Deshaun Watson.

The quarterback is quite a popular figure in the NFL and has appeared on numerous podcasts and talk shows. One such appearance came four years ago, on the ‘Cold as Balls’ show with Kevin Hart, where the host made a famous statement.

Kevin Hart hilariously took a jibe at Baker Mayfield

Hart wanted to shake things up in regard to the positioning of his two security guards, in the form of D and Bam-Bam. The famous stand-up comedian made Bam-Bam stand next to himself and D beside the then-Browns quarterback.

The logic behind the move from Hart was the fact that a Black man standing beside him might be considered as racial favoritism, therefore he shook things up. Mayfield, however, did not have things easier, as D hilariously rejected a handshake offer from him.

“I just want to address something real quick. Fellas, I switched it up today because I felt like we were creating racial tension. I always had you on my side D, cause we Black. And now, I’m realizing that’s wrong, and I don’t want no racial tension. So from now on, Bam-Bam you my best friend,” said Kevin Hart on the logic behind the move.

Baker Mayfield had a horrific season with the Panthers and lost out his starting quarterback position after 6 games. He was dropped from a backup role behind Sam Darnold and decided to join the Rams, wherein he ended up starting 4 games with a 1-3 record.

He is a top priority target for the New Orleans Saints, as reported by multiple sources around the NFL. It will be interesting to see whether he gets back his mojo this season, if and when he earns himself a contract with an NFL franchise.
