The former Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King sat out the entire 2022 season due to injury concerns. The 28-year-old was training hard for his comeback in 2023, but it seems like the talented cornerback will miss out on the 2023 season too.
King recently announced that his comeback preparations have come to a halt after suffering a ruptured Achilles injury that will keep him off the field for the entire 2023 NFL regular season. He posted an emotional video on his social media account explaining the situation to his fans and followers.
“A few days later I’m training and running around, boom,” an emotional Kevin King explained. “I knew it. F—ing knew it. I took a step, pop, but nobody was behind me. F—ing tore my Achilles.”
While an official ruling still hasn’t been made, a torn Achilles injury means King could not play in the league for the second straight year due to injuries. He could return with a team later in the regular season or for the playoffs, but it’s too early to tell now.
The former second-round pick out of Washington, King’s career has been derailed by injuries. He played for the Packers in 5 seasons but never once played an entire season without injuries.
King went on to reveal in the video that the continuous surgeries in the off-season have taken a toll on his mental health. “They don’t really talk about the wear and tear on you mentally that it does, dealing with injuries,” said King.

After talking about the torn Achilles injury he suffered during his training, the former Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King also revealed that he lost his little brother just a few days before his injury.
“Two days ago my little bro passed away. I’m sitting there literally talking to myself like, nobody knows what’s going on, but I’m like damn there’s no way I can sit here and be tripping too much regardless of what the f—k is going on,” King said. “My little bro just lost his life.”
Kevin King, a free agent without a contract, will try to make a comeback to the NFL after recovering from his injury. During his time in the league so far, King spent 5 years with the Packers and played in 51 games. He had his best season back in 2019 when he registered 66 total tackles, 5 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble.
