The Cleveland Browns surprised everyone by making the playoffs this season. They came into the season with a lot of intrigue surrounding their star QB Deshaun Watson, who missed most of 2022 serving a suspension.

He and the Browns weren’t expected to do a lot this season, but they have shocked everyone by winning 11 games and qualifying for the postseason. Another player who has contributed to that is QB Joe Flacco.

Flacco became the team’s starting quarterback after Watson was ruled out of the season due to an injury in week 10. Backup QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson was also ruled out because of an injury and thus, the onus of guiding the Browns to a potential playoff berth fell on Joe Flacco.

He played some amazing football and helped the Brown clinch a postseason spot. Team’s HC Kevin Stefanski spoke about the impact of Flacco in the locker room. Stefanski said, as per Cleveland.com:

Joe, it’s the been there, done that. I mean, he’s been to the Super Bowl, won the Super Bowl. He’s been in those big moments. So, I think he carries that with him... I mean, the players know that. But in these games, when you’re in the huddle and you have a guy that you trust in those moments, I think it resonates with the offense, certainly, and probably with the team as well.

Flacco so far this season has thrown for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He won the Super Bowl back in 2012 with the Baltimore Ravens and was named Super Bowl MVP for his efforts in that game.

It has been a fantastic ride and the former Baltimore Raven has embraced the city of Cleveland and its fanbase. He recently appeared on a radio show and talked about playing for the Browns.

Flacco said when asked about playing for the Browns:

It is fun to be out there playing good football and helping this team win. There is something that is a little bit different about being here in Cleveland and how excited everyone is about this football team. You can always tell that its an awesome fanbase from afar and we were in the playoffs a couple of years ago. So I'm sure they were pumped about that.

The Browns are expected to finish the regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday without Flacco. They have already made the postseason and will not want to risk the former Super Bowl-winning QB.
