Aaron Rodgers stepped onto the MetLife Stadium turf to kick off a new New York Jets era. An era that era expected to be filled with a ton of postseason success and hopefully a Super Bowl title along the way. The excitement in New York was palpable last night. However, it all turned upside down early in the first quarter as Aaron Rodgers went down grabbing his left ankle. He did not return to play the rest of the game as the Jets pulled off a surprise win against the Buffalo Bills.

Rodgers was carted off the field. An MRI revealed what everyone already feared, it was an Achilles tear. Rodgers is now done for the season and perhaps, done for his career. Fox Sports analyst and former player Keyshawn Johnson, however, doesn’t think so. He believes that there is a chance we might see Rodgers in the Jets uniform again.

“Great players don’t want to go out like that. They just don’t.” Keyshawn said during the latest edition of the Undisputed Show. “Players that I think about in professional sports that are considered at the top of their game, whether it’s Kobe Bryant popping his, or Dan Marino, whatever the case maybe, he is chasing a championship, whether or not you wanna believe it, he’s chasing one. You’re not gonna get it by saying I’m done. I am walking away. You gotta do it on the field, and if it means rehabbing over the next eighteen months to come back healthy, or whatever it is, I’ll see Aaron Rodgers playing again in a New York Jets uniform. I’m betting on that.”

Rodgers will be out for the season and there are concerns about him returning to football even after a full recovery. The Jets will now play their backup QB Zach Wilson for the rest of the season, barring any injuries. They will visit Dallas to play the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers‘ injury has caused a massive shockwave throughout the league. The NFL world has reunited to support Rodgers at this tough time. Rodgers was supposed to guide the New York Jets to playoffs this season. He will now miss the entire season due to an Achilles injury.

Rodgers’ former teammate at the Green Bay Packers, David Bakhtiari was enraged with the NFL allowing teams to play on artificial turf. Bakhtiari called for natural grass to be installed in every stadium so that injuries like these wouldn’t happen again. “How many more players have to get hurt on ARTIFICIAL TURF??!” Bakhtiari wrote on his Twitter account. “You care more about soccer players than us. You plan to remove all artificial turf for the World Cup coming up. So clearly it’s feasible. I’m sick of this..Do better!”

Bakhtiari and Rodgers played in Green Bay for 10 seasons together and developed a strong friendship. The expectations in New York were sky-high after the arrival of Rodgers. Now that he is out, it will be on backup QB Zach Wilson to deliver some good results. The Jets will play the Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium.
