It’s well said, that when you have the talent, age is just a number. And Chase Young fits that description like water in a vessel. At the young age of 24, the defensive end secured a lucrative contract deal with the New Orleans Saints worth $13 million.

Young’s journey in the NFL began a few years back in 2020 when he was drafted by the Washington Commanders as the second overall pick. Just like he charmed everyone at college football, he became an immediate star in the league.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, the Saints and Young agreed to a one-year contract deal worth $13 million. This brings the defensive player the great opportunity to re-establish his name as the star player, who won the Rookie of the Year award in his first season in the NFL. And there’s one person who couldn’t hide his happiness for Young: Keyshawn Johnson, who firmly expressed his high hopes for Young.

Johnson said on the recent episode of Undisputed:

He [Chase Young] is worth every single penny for the Saints. I think if he is 100% healthy, he could eventually be the pass rusher that everybody would hope he would be when he got drafted out Ohio State.

While talking about why Young deserves “every penny” that the Saints have offered, Johnson also defended the player against his co-host Skip Bayless, who argued that $13 million is a lot for a player like Young. The former NFL wide receiver backed his argument saying Young isn’t an ordinary player who failed after entering the league.

He went through a serious season-ending injury (torn ACL) with the Commanders, which pushed him out of the franchise. Johnson expressed his immense faith in Young’s abilities as he was the second overall pick for a reason.

Like many players, Young also faced a minor setback, when he suffered injuries and was later traded to the San Francisco 49ers where he couldn’t force an impact until the Super Bowl. Now that his time with the Niners has ended, he has moved on to the next phase of his life – New Orleans.
