Dak Prescott emerged as one of the best quarterbacks this season being the MVP favorite until week 15 and experiencing his best season in eight years. And now, the quarterback is all set for the playoffs as he leads his playoff-contending team to the postseason for the fifth time.
Considering the Dallas Cowboys‘ quarterback stellar performance this season, he is likely to get a “rich” contract extension from the franchise, as the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported. With his current contract expiring next year in 2024, the quarterback may expect to carry a $60 million cap charge including no trade or tag clauses.
Given that, the former NFL wide receiver has a prediction for the quarterback. While discussing Prescott’s blockbuster contract extension, Keyshawn Johnson complimented him by saying he is on the verge of becoming a Super Bowl quarterback, in the near future.
Johnson said:
If I've done enough for my team to put us in a position to try and win a Super Bowl, I gotta get paid too. Dak Prescott should be paid as I've been telling you [Skip Bayless] from day one, as the highest-paid player in the National Football League.Keyshawn Johnson on Dak Prescott
Johnson argued many prominent quarterbacks received an extension even though they didn’t win the Super Bowl. And if winning the Super Bowl is not a criteria, then:
The Criteria is for me, he's a playoff quarterback on the verge of becoming a Super Bowl quarterback. He has led the Dallas Cowboys to the playoffs five times in the seven years that he's been in this league. Not counting 2020.Keyshawn Johnson added
Mike McCarthy puts his faith in Dak Prescott for the playoffs
Keyshawn Johnson isn’t the only guy putting his faith in the quarterback Prescott. Head coach Mike McCarthy also has a prediction, believing Prescott is “definitely playoff-ready.”
After two straight losses on road games, Prescott’s MVP odds had fallen down, however, it can’t be denied that the quarterback has dealt with everything thrown at him throughout the season. McCarthy appreciated Prescott for his gameplay and the way he handled everything.
Moving forward, the Cowboys have two games remaining in this regular season. If they secure a playoff spot after the victory over the Detroit Lions in week 17, this will be their third playoff in a row.
