Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens’ QB, was one of the favorites to win the league MVP award this season. However, after last night’s emphatic win over the San Francisco 49ers, Jackson might’ve established himself as the sole frontrunner to win the coveted award. He led his team to a fantastic 33-19 win over the 11-4 Niners and staked his claim for the league’s MVP.
The Ravens came into the game on the back of four consecutive wins. Not a lot of people gave Baltimore a real chance against the Niners and favored the San Francisco-based team to dominate the Ravens on Monday. But Jackson had other ideas and racked up almost 300 total yards and two touchdowns en route to a dominant win. Fox Sports analyst and former NFL player, Keyshawn Johnson, believes that Jackson has “locked up” the MVP award this year.
Johnson said on the latest edition of the Fox Sports show, Undisputed:
He locked up the MVP as far as I'm concerned. Lamar Jackson is the reason that this offense goes... We've seen it with him, we've seen the Ravens without him... Brock Purdy doesn't do exactly the same things Lamar does. He's got 4,100 total yards, Brock Purdy has 4,100 total yards. Brock Purdy has 31 total touchdowns, Lamar has 24 total touchdowns... So where we're at right now, he's the MVP of the league.Keyshawn Johnson on Undisputed
Lamar so far this season has thrown for 3,357 yards and 19 touchdowns, while rushing for 786 yards and 5 touchdowns. He has already had a better passing season this year than his MVP campaign in 2019. If the Ravens win their last two games of the season, Jackson might just win the MVP award for the second time in his career.
John Harbaugh claims that Lamar Jackson put up an ‘MVP performance’ against the Niners
The Baltimore Ravens’ dismantling of the San Francisco 49ers on Monday was a result of an outstanding performance from the team’s QB Lamar Jackson. The former MVP finished the game with almost 300 total yards and made some key plays throughout the game. The Ravens’ HC John Harbaugh talked about his QB’s performance after the game.
Harbaugh said according to the Ravens’ official website:
I thought Lamar had an MVP performance tonight. It takes a team to create a performance like that, but it takes a player to play at that level -- to play at an MVP level -- it takes a player to play that way. And Lamar was all over the field doing everything.
Jackson and the Ravens will take on the Miami Dolphins in their next game. It will be a tough game, but they will be expected to win that game as well, especially with Jackson playing at an MVP level.
