When the Chicago Bears had the first overall pick, there were plenty of rumors that the Bears might move on from Justin Fields and draft one of the QB prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, the Chicago-based football team smashed those rumors when they made a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers to move down to the 9th overall pick.
The Bears got a nice package in return for the first overall pick, including the star wide receiver D. J. Moore. The move suggested that the Bears are confident in their dual-threat QB Justin Fields and will back him by adding more pieces around him. Amidst this, the well-renowned NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah suggested the Bears draft the Florida QB Anthony Richardson to replace the 24-year-old QB.
Jeremiah claimed that if the Bears think that Anthony Richardson is even slightly better than their current QB, then Ryan Poles should draft the Florida QB in the first round. According to Jeremiah, Poles could be safe financially for 2 more years if they end up drafting Richardson.
After a decent outing in his rookie year, Justin Fields exploded in his sophomore accumulating 3,385 total yards and 25 total touchdowns. There’s still a lot of room for improvement, but Fields has shown some promising flashes in 2022. So, it’s highly unlikely the Bears would move on from him quickly and draft a similar kind of quarterback, who hasn’t proven anything yet.

Keyshawn Johnson whacks Daniel Jeremiah over his Justin Fields take
ESPN reporter Daniel Jeremiah’s odd claims about how the Chicago Bears might draft Anthony Richardson in the 2023 NFL Draft bewildered a lot of people, including the former New York Jets wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson.
During a recent episode of the ESPN show NFL Live, Johnson called out Jeremiah for his questionable take. “You’re gonna go out and draft another QB because you think he might be a smidgen better? … [Justin Fields] was working with me and Dan Orlovsky right now at the WR position,” said Johnson in a recent episode of NFL Live on ESPN. “It just doesn’t make sense.”
Anthony Richardson is a very raw prospect, and he is nowhere near the college football player Justin Fields was at Ohio State. So, instead of wasting a draft pick on Richardson, the Bears should try to focus on the defense or an offensive line prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft. The Bears should be able to land one of the top 2 offensive line prospects without having to move up and it could really help Fields to get better in the 2023 season.
