Business is booming for Kim Kardashian as the celebrity influencer has just revealed the launch of her SKIMS shapewear lineup for men. The premise behind the idea of shapewear is to provide solutions to individuals who are not in the best shape or do not feel confident enough to feel better about themselves as the brand’s products allow the person wearing them to look toned in a pair of slim-fitting pants and dresses.
SKIMS was exclusive to women up until this point but now on the 26th of October, the brand will be launching its first-ever product line catering to men. In order to promote her upcoming shapewear portfolio for men, Kim Kardashian shot a high-profile advertisement and had some of the top athletes in the world on it in nothing but SKIMS apparel.
Some of the prominent names featured in the advertisement are Nick Bosa, the defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers, Neymar Jr., the soccer player for Al Hilal, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder. While she managed to get a star-studded lineup to promote her new product line, SKIMS’ target customer base is much different from these stars.
Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS gets trolled on social media
All of the aforementioned names are professional athletes, which means they stay in peak shape throughout the year. Look at Nick Bosa, the man pushes around offensive linemen and can run through your favorite quarterback in his sleep. He is built like an absolute unit. Neymar Jr. on the other hand, may not carry a ton of muscle mass but he is in great shape, and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander has that lean mean NBA player build.
These are players who do not have body dysmorphia on the same level as an average male with a decent build would have. They look great with or without shapewear, however; it is the individuals who are not in as good of a shape as these athletes that would consider trying out shapewear. It was surprising that the promotional video decided to choose professional athletes rather than male models with a much more realistic build.
Fans on social media had mixed responses to the promotional video, take a look:

Like it or not, SKIMS Men is bound to make Kim Kardashian a lot of bank. When you have guys like Nick Bosa and Neymar Jr. vouching for your product, it is hard for fans to look the other way. SKIMS men comes out on the 26th of October.
