Amidst the hype surrounding the potential return of former MVP Aaron Rodgers despite the New York Jets’ elimination, Minnesota Vikings also seem hopeful for the return of their star quarterback Kirk Cousins. Just like Rodgers, Cousins also suffered a torn Achilles in week 8, and since then the team has been managing without him.

Now that the regular season is approaching its end, it seems the Vikings have around 52% chance of making it to the playoffs, with current 7-7 standings. Interestingly, if they do so, there is a high chance that the team will have the four-time Pro Bowler Cousins with them.

And the credit for that goes to the quarterback Cousins’ wife, who is refusing to let go of the hope that her husband, Kirk Cousins would have a spectacular return on the field on the Super Bowl level if the Vikings went that far in the postseason, after recovering from his season-ending injury.

In his recent appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast on Tuesday, Cousins revealed:

I thought went through my head, ‘Will I ever play football again?’ You know, I’m an older guy, free agent, is there a market? I didn’t know. I believe I will, and I believe it will be there, but you wonder.

But his wife was there for him and as the 35-year-old quarterback said:

My wife’s holding out hope that somehow, if Aaron can get back fast and then you add eight weeks — I’d be right there at the Super Bowl. Who knows? We’ll see. This league’s crazy.

However, the Vikings’ Super Bowl odds of +15,000 are the 17th highest across the league. It seemed like a ghost of a chance for Minnesota to make it to the Super Bowl, especially considering teams like the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens with 11-3 standings.

How Kirk Cousins is dealing with his first major injury in 12 years?

In his 12-year career in the NFL, Vikings star quarterback Cousins has never missed a game due to an injury. But this season, his record broke and he hasn’t stood foot on the ground since week 8, after suffering the Achilles injury. Given that, Cousins is still adjusting to missing NFL games with an ongoing season.

In the podcast, Cousins also shared, “It just kind of hit me that, even in the short term, this was going to be very, very different for the last eight, nine weeks of the regular season,” expressing the difficulties and the feeling out of place, even though he is at the right place.

In the absence of QB Cousins, the Vikings have just managed to stay in the NFC playoff race with a 3-3 record, with three more games remaining in the season. Cousins’ recovery has been a gradual process, the quarterback is focusing on restoring motion and improving the quality of his life.
