The Minnesota Vikings played their week 16 game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Vikings have endured a difficult season as a couple of their best players were injured for a long time this season.

Receiver Justin Jefferson missed multiple games due to a hamstring injury, whereas their starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins, was ruled out for the season due to an Achilles tear.

Cousins suffered his injury during their Week 8 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Since then, he has been nursing his injury. However, that hasn’t stopped the veteran QB from showing up for his teammates during the Vikings’ games. He was at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota to hype up his teammates on Sunday before their game against the Lions.

In a video shared by the Vikings’ official Twitter handle, Cousins can be seen in the tunnel holding a huge boombox on his shoulder. He was hyping up his superstar receiver, Jefferson, during the player introductions. The account captioned the video “KIRKO!” which is the quarterback’s nickname.

The Vikings, though, lost the game against the Lions 24–30. With that loss, they have slipped to 7-8 for the season and will have to win their remaining two games to make a run in the playoffs. Their last two games are against the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.

Justin Jefferson talks about Kirk Cousins amidst quarterback instability

The Minnesota Vikings lost their franchise quarterback, Kirk Cousins, to an Achilles injury earlier this season. Since then, they have been struggling to find a replacement. The Vikings signed former Arizona Cardinals’ QB Joshua Dobbs to replace Cousins, but that only worked for a brief period of time.

They are now playing Nick Mullens at center. Amidst this quarterback instability, receiver Justin Jefferson acknowledged Cousins’ leadership in the locker room.

I really think it goes to show the rest of the world the type of player Kirk is. At the end of the day, this is a tough league. … It’s tough not having 8 out there, the captain that he is, the leader that he is. He’s a great player.
Jefferson said after the Vikings’ recent loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Cousins was having a stellar season before his injury. In eight games this season, Cousins racked up 2,331 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He completed 69.5 percent of his passes and had a passer rating of 103.8. He will hope to come back from the injury as soon as possible.
