The Minnesota Vikings were playing the Arizona Cardinals in their final preseason game. In the third quarter of the game, the camera panned towards the Vikings’ sideline, revealing a rather shocking sight. Vikings’ starting QB Kirk Cousins is officially in his Hulk Hogan era! The NFL later posted this on its Twitter account and the NFL world went crazy.
The reactions started pouring in to Cousins’ new look. Some called it Cousins’ ‘Hulk Hogan phase’ while some weren’t so kind. There were suggestions of Cousins looking a ‘uncle grandpa.’ What does that even mean?
The Vikings eventually lost to the Cardinals by just one point, but that was just an afterthought. Everyone was so fascinated by Cousins’ new look that the game was no longer the center of attention. People on Twitter (now X) had some hilarious reactions to this.
Fans are calling him a ‘wannabe Aaron Rodgers‘ as Rodgers is sporting a new look this season, somewhat similar to that of Cousins. Poor Kirk!
Cousins hasn’t played in any of the preseason games but has been on the sidelines to support his teammates. He was featured in the first season of Netflix’s docuseries ‘Quarterback’ with Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota.
How far can the Cousins-Jefferson duo take the Minnesota Vikings this season?
The Vikings have one of, if not the best wide receivers in the NFL in Justin Jefferson. He had an MVP type season last year, leading the league in receptions and receiving yards last season en route to being named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year. His connection with quarterback Kirk Cousins has been brilliant, and they had a good season together last year.
The Vikings failed to make a deep playoff run though and were eliminated by the New York Giants in the Wild Card round. They will hope to make that run this year, with the Cousins-Jefferson duo leading the charge. They have a great roster around them and will hope to replicate last year’s regular season magic.
The Vikings have lost all three of their preseason games, but most of their starters, including Jefferson and Cousins, did not play in those games. They will start their campaign against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 10 at the U.S. Bank Stadium.
