On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings managed to secure a convincing victory against their NFC North division rivals Green Bay Packers in their week 8 matchup. Despite the victory, the Vikings fans wouldn’t be happy about their Sunday game since Minnesota suffered a huge blow as their star quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a potential season-ending injury in the game.

During the 4th quarter of the game, the Vikings were leading by 14 points and were marching down the field in an attempt to extend their lead. They were facing a crucial 3rd down near the red zone. Cousins who received the snap from the shotgun position suffered a non-contact ankle injury when he dropped back to deliver a pass.

As a result, the play ended in a sack. Furthermore, after the play was over, Cousins could be seen limping over to the sidelines and groaning in pain on the Vikings bench. He was evaluated on the sidelines by the team’s medical personnel and was later ruled out for the remainder of the game with an ankle injury.

Later, ESPN insider Adam Schefter revealed that the Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles on that play. An MRI will be taken to confirm the injury. If the torn Achilles is confirmed, Cousins could possibly miss the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.

Besides, the 35-year-old quarterback will be a free agent by the time he recovers from the injury. It is a big blow for the Vikings, who have bounced back nicely after starting the season 0-3, mostly because of good quarterbacking by Kirk Cousins.

Even against the Packers, Cousins was balling out before suffering the injury. Cousins completed 74.2 percent of his pass attempts for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns. Now, the Vikings will have to look in the trade market or free agency pool for their new signal-caller.
