The New England Patriots legend Tom Brady is considered the greatest quarterback to ever play in the game. He played in the league for more than 2 decades and won 7 Super Bowl championships with 2 teams. However, despite his winning record, he is not the highest-paid NFL player in terms of career earnings. In fact, the Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins is set to surpass him in that category.

Recently, the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to a massive 4-year deal worth $180 million, including $100 million in guarantees. So far, Cousins has accumulated $231 million in career earnings so far. Now, with just his guarantees, he is set to earn $331 million in career NFL contracts.

According to Spotrac, the legendary quarterback Tom Brady earned $332,962,392 in his 23-year-long career. Cousins is on track to earn well over $400 million in the NFL after signing his current contract with the Atlanta-based football team. He is set to be among the top 3 highest-paid players ever, in career earnings.

Cousins earning this much has led to some mixed reactions among football fans. He has only won 1 playoff game in his 12-year-long career. Still, he has managed to sign sensible contracts again and again.

Cousins started his career in the league with a standard 4-year rookie deal worth $2,572,688. But then, he took two 1-year deals (franchise tags) with the Washington Redskins (now known as the Commanders) to prove his talent.

As a result, he then managed to bag a 3-year, $84,000,000 fully guaranteed contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Later, in 2020, he signed 2 year, $66,000,000 with the Vikings and in 2022, he again signed a one-year, $35,000,000 deal with the Vikings. And now, the 35-year-old managed to land a 4-year deal with the Atlanta-based football team worth $180 million.

Kirk Cousins signed with the Falcons because of the long-term deal

The former Vikings QB Kirk Cousins managed to land a massive deal with the Atlanta Falcons despite coming off an Achilles injury. Recently, during his introductory press conference, Cousins explained why he chose to sign with Atlanta.

As we talked with Atlanta, it felt like this was a place where, if I play at the level I expect to play, that I can retire a Falcon. And that was something that really excited me, and that's certainly the goal and you gotta earn the right to do that.

Nonetheless, the Falcons have finally got a long-term quarterback after Matt Ryan’s departure. Now, they will look to build a good team around him as they hope to compete for the Super Bowl in the coming years.
