Kirk Cousins GRACEFULLY tackles teammate Justin Jefferson leaving him off his top-5 QB list claiming he’ll work hard to get on the WR’s 2024 list
Cousins vowed to be on Jefferson's list next year.

The decision to leave out your teammate can be hard sometimes. Not for Vikings WR Justin Jefferson, though, as he recently left out his QB Kirk Cousins from his top 5 quarterback list. However, Cousins is not bothered by his star receiver’s comments.
Recently, while spending some downtime in Brazil, Jefferson revealed that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL. The Super Bowl winner was followed by Jalen Hurts, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow. The omission of Cousins raised a few eyebrows, but the 34-year-old was not even aware of the list.
“I didn’t even see it,” Cousins explained while appearing on the Minnesota sports radio station KFAN-FM. “This is the first time hearing about it.”
The four-time Pro Bowler continued, saying,” As a competitor, you’d always want [to be in the top five].” Undoubtedly, he is a fighter, despite having little to show for it in the trophy cabinet. Cousins is aware of that fact, and perhaps he realized why Jefferson did not include him in the list. “People have to be honest and share what they think,” Cousins explained, adding that he would never tell “somebody what they need to think.”
As the 2023 NFL season draws ever closer, the Vikings will want their quarterback and receiver duo to perform at the highest level. “Hopefully, in 2024, I’ll be on his list,” Cousins added, hoping to prove Jefferson wrong and be one of the best in the league.
The Minnesota Vikings are looking for Kirk Cousins’ backup
Kirk Cousins is quickly running out of time at Minnesota. He is entering his final season after his one-year extension. Head Coach Kevin O’Connell is looking for either a backup or a replacement. However, it’s not easy to find another playoff-level quarterback readily available for pickup.
The Vikings tried their luck in the 2023 draft, but did not come across anyone to their liking. However, they eventually made a fifth-round signing of Jaren Hall. He is one for the future, but the Vikings need someone ASAP if they refrain from keeping Cousins when his contract runs out.
Meanwhile, there’s still a glimmer of hope for the Vikings. In 2024, the Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray will be a free agent, and O’Connell could make a move for the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Despite bagging two Pro Bowl honors, Murray hasn’t had a good time at Arizona. He has a negative win percentage (25-31-1) in 57 NFL games. But individually, the 25-year-old has shown that he can produce the goods.
Murray has 23 rushing and 84 passing touchdowns, with 41 interceptions. He has 13,848 passing yards to his name. If the Vikings do decide to let famed Netflix “Quarterback” Kirk Cousins leave, then Kyler Murray might be an ideal replacement.
