Krystal Anderson [Krissy], a former cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs, died at 40. Anderson passed away during the stillbirth of her daughter, Charlotte Willow Anderson.

Anderson, who was the Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader for 10 years, had complications during childbirth. She underwent three surgeries to fight sepsis. Unfortunately, it led to organ failure.

An obituary shared Anderson’s death ‘unexpectedly,’ on March 20, shortly after the birth of her baby daughter. A GoFundMe page was created following her death.

Krissy [Krystal Anderson] sought out hospitalization during her 21st week of pregnancy, and despite the trauma of losing her baby girl, Charlotte, during childbirth, she fought on. Her fight with [sepsis] led to organ failure, and she was placed on life support. She underwent three surgeries, but the source of the infection remained elusive. In the early hours of March 20, surrounded by her devoted family, sweet Krissy passed away.

Krissy is survived by her husband Clayton, infant son James Charles, and daughter Charlotte. Clayton was distraught and felt lost with the sudden demise of his wife.

A longtime member of the Chiefs cheer group, Anderson had made a lot of friends. After her unfortunate passing, the group’s Instagram page shared a message.

She was loved and adored by her teammates, fans, and strangers who were never [strangers] for long. We will miss her kind spirit, joyful energy, and sparkle. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. We will cherish every moment we had with her. At a later date, we will share how we will continue to honor her legacy.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt‘s wife, Tavia Hunt, commented on the post

In her decade-long tenure, Anderson cheered for the Chiefs in more than 100 games from 2006–11 and 2013–16. She went to the NFL Pro Bowl in 2015, was a representative at the London Games, and even visited US troops around the world, which included trips to Iraq and Kuwait.

The obituary revealed Anderson was a software engineer at Oracle Health. While working with the company, she was awarded the patent after creating software for postpartum hemorrhage.
