As the Super Bowl approaches, Brock Purdy is gaining more and more recognition that he deserves for leading the Super Bowl LVIII in his second year as a starter.

Since the quarterback took over the team after Jimmy Garoppolo, the San Francisco 49ers have not only successfully advanced to the NFC championship game consecutively but also ended their three-year Super Bowl drought.

Acknowledging the shift in the 49ers’ offensive game, former Super Bowl champion Kurt Warner showered high praise on Purdy by comparing him with NFL legends such as Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger

Warner feels the way these two prominent quarterbacks ruled over the league once, so would Purdy in the coming years.

Tom Brady wasn’t that guy until year four or year five. Ben Roethlisberger wasn’t that guy until year four or year five. This guy [Brock Purdy] is in his first year and a half and he’s done everything that he’s supposed to do. The thing to me with Brock is, he’s gonna have his opportunity.
Said Warner

As Warner explained the significance of franchise quarterbacks like Brady and Roethlisberger and how they carried the entire team on his shoulders, he believes Purdy also has that ability, and he’ll get the opportunity to show it when he wouldn’t have such a skilled team backing him.

The retired Hall of Fame quarterback believes critics have been too quick in judging Purdy as he’s just started handling the realm.

There will come a time when he doesn’t have all this talent around him. The ball is in his hand and then we’ll write the narrative. Why do we have to write the narrative now?

Kurt Warner picks his favorite for Super Bowl LVIII

While talking about the second-year quarterback whose NFL journey has just begun, Warner showed unequivocal support for Purdy.

Warner believes a quarterback’s journey doesn’t start until he is four years removed from college, and in that scenario, it’s quite early to analyze Purdy’s true skills and whether or not he’s got what legends like Brady and Roethlisberger once had.

The ex-SB champion also urged Purdy’s critics to celebrate him, who, in his second year, led the team to the Super Bowl, regardless of the offensive support by his side.
