Trey Lance was supposed to be the franchise quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers for years to come. Now he will be backing up Dak Prescott as a Dallas Cowboy. This happened after Lance was traded to the Cowboys after a poor preseason with the 49ers.

Jimmy Garoppolo, the former 49ers quarterback was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason. He was recently asked about the 49ers treatment of their QBs and the Trey Lance situation. Garoppolo had some interesting things about the trade and the supposed mismanagement of the quarterbacks that happens in San Francisco. Read about it Read here.

The Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about Garoppolo’s comments. A seemingly annoyed Shanahan said “Jimmy, the comments are the comments. I’m really not concerned about his comments.” He told the reporters about the comments made by Garoppolo. “I think anytime you trade up to the third pick in the draft and it doesn’t work out, that’s the ‘weird situation.’ But that is the situation. So that’s what happened. I don’t think it’s that weird.” He later called the situation as unusual.

The Niners drafted Lance third overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. They gave up three first round picks in the process. Its fair to say that the trade was a disaster for them. They announced Brock Purdy as their starter for the upcoming season and Sam Darnold as QB2. Lance will be the QB3 in Dallas behind Prescott and Cooper Rush. The Niners open their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 10.

The NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Nick Bosa is currently holding out of the San Francisco 49ers’ practice as he awaits his contract extension. There were talks of trading Bosa but the Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan has confirmed that his star pass rusher will not be traded.

Shanahan recently said that Bosa’s contract situation has become a bit worrisome and he hopes that it gets resolved as quickly as possible. “I thought it would come probably at this time just looking at the history of those things,” Shanahan said on Wednesday. “I’m really hoping it gets done. I know they’re working tirelessly at it. [General manager] John [Lynch], [VP of football administrations Brian] Hamp [Hampton], [president] Paraag [Marathe]. I know their team is. But hopefully we can get him in here sooner than later.” When asked if he can imagine Bosa not being a part of the team, Shanahan said “Yeah, I can imagine anything. Doesn’t mean I like that picture”

The Niners open their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 1 and Shanahan will hope to have his best defensive player back on the field as soon as possible. They are prime contenders to reach the Super Bowl this season and they need Bosa to achieve that.
